Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurullah Bolat, Unit Coordinator and Faculty Member of the Faculty of Medicine, stated that this Unit Coordinators meeting was organized as a training session. He remarked, "Many facilities have been provided for individuals with disabilities at our university; however, providing these opportunities is not enough—they must be utilized. Therefore, it is crucial for unit coordinators, who are in direct contact with our students with disabilities, to be well-informed on these matters."

Vice Rector and Commission Chair Prof. Dr. Süha Özden emphasized the necessity of raising awareness and sending the right messages to society. In his speech, he noted: "We have around 50 students with disabilities. Situations that many of us might overlook can become significant issues for them. At this point, many projects and physical improvement works are being carried out at our university. As the administration, we are committed to following through on the responsibilities of the COMU Rectorate to solve these problems. If there are deficiencies we cannot see or understand, please share them with us so we can move forward. Reaching all students with disabilities and meeting their needs and demands at the highest level is paramount. I thank you all for your participation."

Following the opening speeches, unit members—Lecturer Sevda Vurur (School of Health), Asst. Prof. Dr. Gülçin Gözaydın (Faculty of Sports Sciences), Asst. Prof. Dr. Tutku Ak (Faculty of Architecture and Design), and Specialist Psychologist Serdar Topal—delivered presentations on the concept of disability, communication skills, general physical requirements and accessibility, and sports opportunities for the disabled at our university.
